Determine Workflow

Before creating a Zap, it's helpful to think about what needs to be to accomplished. For example, let's say there is a form on the company website. The company wants to share the submissions with the mobile platform and opt the contacts in to a mobile campaign, but it's too tedious and time consuming to import them manually.

Start with breaking down the problem by answering the following questions:

  • What apps are being used? (ex: A form app on the website and an account on the mobile platform)
  • What event will trigger the Zap? (ex: When there’s a new submission on the website's form)
  • What actions will the Zap perform? (ex: Create a Contact and Opt them into A Mobile Campaign with a double opt-in filter)
  • What information needs to move between those apps? (ex: The contact’s mobile number, first name, etc...)

How To Use A Zap Template

Step 1.

After creating the account on the mobile platform with the requisite features to perform the desired action (ex: mobile campaign, kiosk, coupons, etc...), log-in to the Zapier account.

Note: All Shareable Zaps use Webhooks by Zapier. This is considered a premium app, the use of which requires a Zapier Account with the minimum STARTER Plan.

Step 2.

Each Zap Template has two links. 1) The TEMPLATE link opens a unique page on Zapier with additional instructions, the Step 1 Trigger, and a Step 2 Action. 2) The API REF link opens a knowledge base article containing a visual reference for configuring the specific Step 2 Action.  Click the button below to open the template for Create a Contact and Opt-In to a Mobile Campaign (Mobile Only):

CONNECT TO THE DESIRED 3RD PARTY APP & SET-UP THE TRIGGER

Step 7.

Click the Step 1 TRIGGER to change from Google Sheets to the desired 3rd Party App and Event that will trigger the Zap to run, then click continue to log-in to the desired account and setup the trigger using the available options for the selected event.

Step 8.

TEST THE STEP 1 TRIGGER - Every Zap step ends with a TEST TRIGGER that will allow you to confirm that the requisite data is available and the the step performed as expected. When setting up your Zap for the first time it is essential that the Step 1 TRIGGER produces actionable data that will be used in the Step 2 ACTION. This may require executing actions on the 3rd party site that will trigger the event so that the data can be collected by this Step of the Zap.

Step 9.

When finished, scroll to the bottom of this section and click CONTINUE.

Step 10.

In turn, the mobile platform will return a response indicating either Success or Error. Visit the Gateway API menu of the mobile platform for a list of the expected responses appropriate for the selected API call.

Step 11.

PUBLISH THE ZAP - Once the Zap is confirmed to work appropriately, publishing the Zap will enable it. Once enabled, every time the Trigger Event occurs on the 3rd Party app, the Zap will execute the steps.
