SAMPLE 1

Dear  [CLIENT FIRST NAME],

You may or may not have already heard that there are changes coming in the mobile industry pertaining to how you send out messages to your opted in subscribers.  The carriers are working to reduce spam on their networks and are working to move businesses to dedicated numbers so they can work to reduce spam complaints for their customers.

What does this mean for you? Here is a quick summary of the changes taking place:

Who:
  • All [COMPANY NAME] system users

What:
  • All users will need to migrate from their current “shared” messaging short codes (55678 or 59925) to a new “dedicated” [COMPANY NAME] sponsored short code: [SHORT-CODE]. Because short codes are very expensive we have opted to obtain a NEW dedicated short code that will be “Powered by [COMPANY NAME]” for our users.

When:
  • This transition process will take place over the next 3 to 6 months. We will make sure you have enough advanced notice to communicate these changes internally with your team and also with your opted in contacts.  While there is NO hard deadline for this change, it is something we will be proactively working on in the coming months, with the goal of completing the transition for all users by the end of the year.

Where:
  • This change will affect all users across North America that are currently used shared short codes.

Why:
  • In an effort to reduce spam on the carrier networks, cell carriers are working towards transitioning to a ONE CODE per ONE BRAND solution for text messaging communications. This means that shared short codes like 55678 and 59925 will no longer be supported at a later date, still to be determined.
  • Because we are mostly automating and administering messages for our users, we have been able to obtain a “single content provider” status with the carriers for approval to provide messaging on one dedicated short code to all of the [COMPANY NAME] ’ users.

How:
  • Our new dedicated short code [SHORT-CODE] will be active within the coming weeks. Once that happens we will reach out to you with next steps. This will entail a few things:
      • Making sure you update all your existing signage with the new short code: [SHORT-CODE]
      • Sending a message to your existing opted in contacts to let them know the short code they  are receiving messages from is changing
      • Making the change in the system to the new code
      • Sending a message to your existing opted in contacts with an introduction to the new messaging code (this can include a coupon).

We will be working closely with you and your team to ensure a smooth and seamless transition to the new dedicated short code. As always, if you have any questions about this process or your options, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

SAMPLE 2

   Dear [CLIENT FIRST NAME],

As you know, ever since text message marketing has taken off, various bad actors have set to exploit the technology. Thanks to them, at some point in the past, anyone with a mobile phone has received a SPAM text without their consent.

In response, the carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon etc...) have been strengthening their safeguards to prevent this type of abuse, including an industry wide shift away from "shared" codes, in favor of "dedicated" numbers for each business.

While this transition has been happening for a few years now, it has picked up steam in recent months. There is now an indication that T-Mobile will impose a deadline for transitioning away from shared codes sometime in the new year.

To ensure that messaging continues uninterrupted with little to no impact for your customers, we are taking preemptive steps to prepare your account for transitioning to a dedicated number that will be exclusive to your business.

We anticipate rolling out your new code sometime during the first half of 2023, allowing ample time to update any promotional displays in circulation. In preparation, our team has already registered a dedicated toll-free number for your account - [ASSIGNED MESSAGING CODE] But there are other options available for you.

You can choose from the following:

1. A Dedicated Toll-Free Number (ex: 888-123-4567)

  • Text & Picture messaging / no voice

2. A Dedicated Local Number (“10DLC”) (ex: 818-123-4567)

  • Text & Picture messaging / no voice

3. RECOMMENDED - Text-Enabling Your Current Business Line

  • Your voice service will remain the same and now your # will also support text and picture messaging communications. One number for both Voice + Messaging.

Take a moment to consider these options and let’s setup a time to discuss this process with our team.

We look forward to speaking with you soon.
