After more than 15 years as a free application, Kiosk Group announced in May 2026 that Kiosk Pro Lite was transitioning to a paid subscription model by the end of June.
What changed?
According to Kiosk Group:
- Existing users would receive a 30-day free trial of the new management platform.
- Existing customers would be offered a discounted rate of approximately $2 per device per month.
- New customers would be charged approximately $5 per device per month.
- The subscription includes access to a web-based kiosk management dashboard, content management tools, and additional kiosk-building features.
What this meant?
Devices where the Apple ID was removed and updates were disabled would prevent the app from auto-updating when the subscription service went into effect. For devices where the Apple ID and Updates remained active, after the trial period, an active subscription would be required to continue using the application.
What is advised now?
While we cannot control 3rd party applications, we understand how this change may impact budgeting and future kiosk deployments. Happily, Apple offers a free and simple Utility application - Kiosk Mode for iPad. Deploying this instead of Kiosk Pro Lite is easy.
